Some people just don’t like 5G. Maybe they have health concerns about the radiation. Or they think fast internet will lead to Skynet nuking humanity. Whatever the reason, you can use a 5G-enabled phone (like our Pixel 4a 5G) without having to use 5G itself.
The process may vary slightly by Android version and phone, but generally it’s the same.
- Open the Settings app
- Tap on "Network and Internet" (usually the first choice)
- Tap on "Internet" (usually the top choice)
- Tap on the gear icon (Settings) next to your SIM card (usually the top choice)
- Scroll down to "Preferred network type" and tap on it
- Select "LTE only"
